there are a number of themes that run through everything we do...

circular spaces….. a circular space with no corners or large obstacles allows the energy to flow freely. There is less opportunity for stagnation or blockages and the energy we give out comes back to us. It can feel as though the energy is amplified and sleeping in a circular space can be similar to the experience of receiving Reiki. For those of us used to four walls, a roof and plenty of sharp corners, spending time in a Yurt can be a rejuvenating experience. Yurt means dwelling, and this is an example of a form of dwelling that has stood the test of time. The design of the Yurt has barely changed for thousands of years and much of the Mongolian population still live in Yurts, even in the cities. To those who live in them, Yurts represent the universe in microcosm. The floor being the earth, the roof the sky and the hole in the roof the sun. We invite you to come and spend some time in our small universe.

sharing….. Part of the ethos of Yoga Yurts is us sharing what we have with others, our space and our way of living, in the knowledge that we will benefit as much from the experience as anyone does. The nature of our teaching is also that of sharing, we strongly believe that the best teacher is inside each of us and that the person at the front of the class is simply sharing what they know with everyone else in the space, acting as a catalyst to the learning process. We encourage you to listen to your inner teacher while you are with us and share whatever you have to offer with the group |

proximity to the earth…. The way we have chosen to live reflects our desire to get back something that we found missing in the society in which we find ourselves. To regain a simplicity and connectedness with the elements, the building blocks of nature, our nature. We have both independently spent many years working in gardens, something we felt drawn to in an unconscious effort to ground ourselves by the stimulation of nature. Living as we do we get nature in a raw state and live stimulated by all our senses most of the time. We aim to live lightly on the Earth and follow more closely the natural cycles of life. |
