yurts..... A Yurt is a Mongolian tent made from a timber frame and a canvas cover. In Mongolia where they have a drier, colder climate the cover would be made from felt and animal hide but in our climate we need a waterproof cover so our yurts are canvas. Each of our yurts has a wood burning stove to keep us warm. We have a slightly sloping site in Biggin Hill so our yurts are all put up on wooden platforms.

the fire pit..... When the weather if fine, winter or summer, we keep the fire going outside and constantly have the kettle on for tea. We cook some of our food out here and have our meals around the fire. We respect the Mongolian tradition of the fire as a sacred energy and only burn wood on the fire, rubbish is burned separately to heat our water.

practice..... The Yoga Yurt is a 24' yurt with a large wood burner. We can comfortably fit up to 13 for yoga and more for other workshops. It is a clear space with minimal intrusion, just the mats, meditation cushions and shrine. It is light and airy, with large windows to connect with the green field outside and a clear, central roof cap allowing light to come in and for us to see up to the sky.

dine..... Our original 18' yurt is the dining, library and lounging space. With it's central wood burner, Kashmiri rugs, Thai cushions, low wooden tables, and bookshelves full of yoga, healing, alternative therapy, self growth, gardening and spiritual books there's plenty to stimulate and inspire. We eat in here when the weather isn't good enough to eat outside by the fire.

the basics..... The toilets are compost toilets, they are sit down toilets with regular toilet seats, the only difference being that instead of flushing we put a cup of sawdust down the loo. They have a great view!!!!
